A railway in 25 days, a travel show in nine, and residents who already invited the world

The good news this week is hardware and people: Etihad Rail’s Dubai station is on a published date, Arabian Travel Market is about to fill World Trade Centre, and DET’s resident-invite programme closed only because it was full.

1. 1 · Transport

   Etihad Rail to Dubai: 30 September, about 57 minutes to Abu Dhabi

   Al Yalayis station at Jumeirah Golf Estates is scheduled to open with Al Dhaid the same day. Introductory trains between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah have already been running. A ‘Rail to Road’ car at the arrival station is being offered so the last mile is not a problem. This is a national passenger train — book on Etihad Rail, not with a NOL tap.

2. 2 · Tourism

   ‘A Dubai Invite’ filled up: 90,000+ resident applications

   DET asked residents from nearly 200 nationalities to bring family and friends. New sign-ups are closed because demand outran the first allocation — more than 30,000 benefit packages already issued, capacity tripled along the way. Guests already registered can still arrive until 31 October. That is a city whose residents are the marketing.

   Arabian Travel Market: 14–17 September at DWTC

   The region’s main travel trade show is nine days out. Dubai is putting 2025’s record overnight visitors (19.59 million) and a restored aviation network in front of the industry. Badges, hotels on Sheikh Zayed Road, a busier metro — and a city that sells winter while it is still September.

   GITEX Global is locked: 7–11 December, Expo City

   The world’s large tech and AI show is not at the old DWTC box this year. Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City is the venue. If you hire, exhibit or just want to see the south campus working at full volume, December is a hotel problem as much as a badge problem. Book early.

   Expo City: more companies, most commercial space leased

   The old fairground is behaving like a district. Business registrations were reported up more than 25% in the first half of 2026, with most commercial space leased. Halls next door are expanding so Dubai can host more of the world’s large shows. South Dubai is on the calendar, not only on a masterplan slide.

6. 6 · Housing

   Property search is back on its feet — JVC, Hills, Bay, South

   Bayut and dubizzle’s mid-year snapshot showed seeker activity and high-intent enquiries ahead of 2025. Apartment interest still clusters in JVC, Business Bay, Downtown, Marina and Arjan; villas in Hills, Ranches and Dubai South. That is demand, not a promise of cheap rent. Use DLD and Ejari.
