Tax, plainly
No personal income tax on your salary. That is not the same as ‘everything is free’.
- Salary income tax
- 0%
- VAT on most goods
- 5%
- Corporate tax
- On business profits, not your wage
Your employment salary is not income-taxed in the UAE. Gratuity is not a pension you can ignore — it is the end-of-service stack, calculated on basic, not on allowances.
You still pay 5% VAT on most retail, restaurants and services. Municipality / tourism dirhams appear on hotel bills. Corporate tax is a company topic. Do not confuse a Golden Visa property purchase with a tax holiday on a side hustle you have not registered.
Practical notes, not official law. Confirm on ICP, MOHRE, RTA, KHDA and your employer before you act.
