September hotel rates jumped because the halls are full
Khaleej Times saw up to ~175% more on event nights by DWTC. That is demand from trade shows — book early or metro in from a cheaper line.
- Peak example
- Novotel DWTC ~AED 300 → 825
- 15-hotel average
- ~86% up (AED 372 → 689)
- Why
- ATM 14–17 Sep · GISEC 16–18 Sep
Khaleej Times compared quiet dates with busy September event dates on public booking sites (6 September 2026). Some World Trade Centre hotels nearly doubled or more: Novotel DWTC about AED 300 to AED 825 (~175%), Ibis DWTC about 165%. Across 15 nearby hotels the average went from about AED 372 to AED 689 (~86%). Those numbers move. They are not a law.
The cause is a packed trade calendar, not a mystery tax: energy, property, derma, crypto, Arabian Travel Market (14–17 Sep at DWTC) and GISEC (16–18 Sep at Expo City). Hoteliers told KT occupancy is already better than quiet August, with a stronger Q4 expected. That is a city people still fly into.
Visitors: book now or sleep in JLT / Barsha / Business Bay and take the Red Line. Residents: this is taxi and metro crowding, not your Ejari. GITEX (7–11 Dec, Expo City) will do the same in the south. Full recap: This week in Dubai.
