Two official clocks run at once. Economic Agenda D33 wants Dubai’s economy doubled by 2033 and the city kept among the world’s top three. Dubai 2040 wants five strong urban centres, more than double the green and leisure space, and most people living near a main public-transport stop. That is why you are seeing rail, Expo City halls, and south-Dubai housing in the same news week.
In 2026 the parts you can touch: Etihad Rail’s Dubai station is scheduled for 30 September. GITEX Global is 7–11 December at Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City — not the old DWTC box. Events, aviation, logistics and construction are hiring because the plan assumes more visitors, more cargo and more residents. The Blue Line metro is being built now; passenger service is still a 2029 story.
