Taxis and apps
Street taxis are metered. Careem / Uber are normal. Starting fare is about AED 12–13.
RTA taxis: hail on the street or at ranks, meter on, card often accepted. Apps add a dirham or two at the start and show the estimate. Pink-roofed taxis are an option some women prefer.
Surge exists in apps when it rains (rare) or when a concert empties. For airport and 02:00 finishes, an app car is worth it. For a two-stop Red Line hop, you are wasting money.
