When to move to Dubai — the honest calendar
October if you can. Avoid the worst of summer unless the job will not wait. Hiring has a season too.
The weather and the hiring calendar are not the same thing. You can start a job in July. You will remember July.
Weather
November to March is the outdoor city: beach, parks, the Creek, a jacket at night in January. April is warm. May to September is indoor — malls, metro, strong air-con, DEWA bills that teach physics. Ramadan shifts hours; plan around it rather than against it.
Hiring
January and September feel like intake months. August is quiet. GITEX and the big trade shows pull short-term work. A real offer with a visa is worth more than a perfect month on the calendar.
If you must arrive in summer
- Book a hotel you can extend. Do not sign a year of rent in week one from a taxi.
- Walk units after 20:00. Heat lies about a neighbourhood at noon.
- Budget DEWA and bottled water without shame.
