The Dubai to Abu Dhabi train opens 30 September

For years the Dubai–Abu Dhabi trip meant a bus, a taxi, or a car that ate the morning. From Wednesday 30 September 2026 there is a passenger train. You board at Al Yalayis, next to Jumeirah Golf Estates metro on the Red Line, and you get off at Mohammed Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi. Gulf News puts the ride at about 57 minutes. Khaleej Times timed an early service closer to 64 minutes. Call it an hour, then check the ticket.

Book on etihadrail.ae or the app, or a machine at the station, up to about five minutes before departure. Tickets went on sale on 22 September and were then paused. Open the official site before you leave home. Do not buy a seat in a WhatsApp group. This ticket is not a NOL card, and the metro fare is extra if you ride the Red Line to the station.

Who this helps

If your job is in Dubai and the cheaper flat is in JVC, DIP or Dubai South, this station is the new commute test. Ride it once before you sign. If your job is in DIFC or Business Bay, the train does not replace the metro — you still change at Jumeirah Golf Estates and ride north. Live where the job is. The train makes Abu Dhabi a real day trip and a real option for some households. It does not make a two-hour morning disappear.
