A passenger railway is about to make Abu Dhabi a timetable
Al Yalayis opens 30 September 2026. For anyone who has only known the truck traffic, that is a different UAE.
Dubai’s metro already does the daily miracle: a mid salary can live without a car if you pick the right line. Etihad Rail is the next sentence. From 30 September 2026 the national passenger service is scheduled to stop at Al Yalayis, Jumeirah Golf Estates. Abu Dhabi–Fujairah trains have already been in an introductory phase. You book on Etihad Rail. You do not tap NOL and hope.
This is how a country starts to feel smaller in a good way. A Friday in Abu Dhabi without bargaining with the E11. A job in one emirate and a weekend in another that is not a personality test. It will not replace your Red Line commute to DIFC. It will replace the story that the UAE is only cars.
